Congratulations from all of us in the Woodrow Wilson Department of Politics upon successful completion of a demanding course of study!  We are as pleased and as proud as your family must be.  We are looking forward to seeing you at our diploma ceremony.

 

LOCATION/TIME

Our departmental diploma ceremony will be conducted Sunday, May 19, 2013 in the Amphitheatre (directly in front of Garrett Hall). The ceremony will begin at 3:00 p.m.  Students will see their names on the chairs located in front of the stage and need to be seated in their designated spot no later than 2:45 p.m.  NO TICKETS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND THIS EVENT.

 

The diploma ceremony rain site will be at John Paul Jones Arena.  If the decision is made to hold Final Exercises on the Lawn and move diploma ceremonies inside, the department’s diploma ceremony will begin at 1:00 p.m. Students should report IMMEDIATELY from the Lawn Ceremony no later than 12:45.   If the weather is severe, Finals will be held in the John Paul Jones Arena followed by the department’s ceremony at 12:30 p.m. (students should be seated no later than 12:15pm.)  

 

PARKING

Parking is available at U-Hall and Scott Stadium with complimentary shuttle bus service to Central Grounds.  Parking is also available in the Emmet/Ivy parking garage, but no shuttle bus service is provided from this location (only a 10 minute walk to the Lawn). Free parking is permitted at U-Hall and Scott Stadium and limited pay-by-the-hour parking is available at the Central Grounds parking garage on Emmet Street.

 

PHOTOGRAPHY

There will be a Professional Photographer on site taking pictures of all degree candidates.  You can contact him via

www.photospecialies.com or there will be order forms available at the actual ceremony that you can fill out to order prints. 

 

PhD CANDIDATES

There will be a Hooding Ceremony during the presentation of your degree.  When ordering your cap and gown, be sure to include a hood.  Please inform Bonnie of your plans and let her know which professor directed your dissertation.

Congratulations to alumnus, Prof. Alison Millett McCartney of Towson University

has co-edited a book  published by APSA, entitled Teaching Civic Engagement: From Student to Active Citizen, available at:

APSA launched the book at its Teaching and Learning Conference in Long Beach,CA.  They will also be having a rountable at the annual meeting in Chicago.
