Verónica Zebadúa-Yáñez is a Diversity Postdoctoral Associate and Lecturer in the Department of Politics. She specializes in feminist political theory and philosophy, existentialisms, transnational feminisms, and the politics of LGBTI and women’s rights. She earned a PhD in Politics from the New School for Social Research (2019). In addition to her academic career, Verónica worked for over seven years as a women’s rights and gender specialist at the United Nations. She has published in Hypatia, Journal of Feminist Philosophy, and is currently working on a manuscript titled Visions of Freedom: Narratives of Emancipation in Feminist Political Thought, which addresses the variety of genres—biography, autobiography, fiction, manifesto—that feminist theorists and practitioners around the world engage in their reflections on the project of freedom. Her second manuscript will merge feminist theory and transnational feminist and queer politics, parsing the concrete experiences and emancipatory practices of women’s and LGBTI human rights defenders in Latin America as freedom projects that have contributed to the redefinition and concretion of international human rights law.
