Undergraduate Research
UVA’s Department of Politics provides exceptional opportunities for undergraduate research, allowing students to move beyond the classroom and contribute original scholarship on political issues. Through the department’s Distinguished Majors Program and Honors Program, students work closely with faculty mentors to design and conduct independent research projects in areas such as American politics, international relations, comparative politics, and political theory. The program emphasizes rigorous research methods, critical analysis, and evidence-based argumentation, equipping students with skills that prepare them for graduate study, public service, law, policy, and other research-intensive careers.
